General Rules for Entering
Quilts in Show
1. Entries for the quilt or wearable and accessories show are limited to
members of the Bedford Friendship Quilt Guild.
2. Entries must have been completed within the last 10 years (except antique
quilts).
3. All entries must be made of fabric and will be judged by peoples choice.
4. There is no maximum number of entries per quilt maker. However, if there
are too many total quilts for the show, a certain number of entries may be
denied. (This does not include antique quilts or challenge quilts.)
5. There is no minimum or maximum size.
6. All works must be submitted ready for display. Clothing needs to be on a
good sturdy hanger and quilts need to be clean. All quilts 25 or larger
with the exception of antique quilts must have a minimum of a 6 sleeve
across the entire back of the quilt. 24 or smaller should have a 3 sleeve.
7. Each entry must have a label located on the back of the quilt with the
following information: name of creator(s) and title of work.
8. Each entry must be delivered to the quilt show on Friday between 12:00
Noon and 2:00 PM.
9. No work may be withdrawn prior to close of the exhibit on April 4, 2009.
Only the take down committee members will be allowed in the display area at
close of exhibit. You may pick up your quilt(s) between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.
You must have the proper paperwork to take possession of the quilt(s). No
quilts will be returned to a person other than the quilt owner unless
written notification is received.
10. Security is only provided during show hours open to public. There will
be guild members staying overnight on Friday, April 3rd at the Bedford Town
Hall. Your quilts are not covered by guild insurance. Should you care to
obtain insurance, you will need to do so through your homeowners/renters
insurance.
11. All quilts need to be submitted in a paper bag with handles that stands
up on its own. A paper bag is needed for each quilt.
Bedford Friendship Quilt Guild is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Submission of entries implies agreement to and understanding of all
conditions set forth in the general rules.
Quilt Sleeve Instructions
All quilts entered in the show that measure 25 and over
must have a 6 sleeve, with the exception of antique quilts.
Any smaller quilts must have a 3 sleeve.
To make a 6 sleeve: cut sleeve fabric 13 by the width of your quilt.
Stitch a narrow hem on each end of the strip. With the hems on
the outside (so hanging rod will not catch them), fold the strip in half
lengthwise and stitch a ½ seam on the right side of the fabric,
creating a long tube. Press tube flat. Hand stitch along the top and bottom
of the sleeve the entire width of the quilts. Be sure the
sleeve ends remain open. Your finished tube will be approximately 6 wide
and be able to readily accept a 1 x 4 x 1 board.
For a 3 sleeve, follow the same procedure except cut your sleeve fabric 7
by the width of your quilt.
